[Materials on predacious animals and vermin control, and subject files from the Wildlife Division].

Record group 87-55 consists of two sets of records from the Wildlife Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The first are records of predacious animals and vermin control (1903-1947, bulk dated 1932-1938) in game areas around the state. At this time, predators were seen as animals that were taking game that belonged to people. The second set of records are subject files (1980-1981). These records are from the Executive Office and cover most of the matters dealt with by the Division, including hunting, game management, endangered species, and environmental quality. Particular attention is given to grouse, mourning doves, Kirtland's warblers, and various waterfowl.
